In the wake of the recent coronavirus pandemic, many states are offering a free dentures and braces to those who get injured or sick.
The state of Michigan has a new program in place to offer the same benefits.
“We’re here to help, but not at the expense of the people who actually need it,” said Kristin Eichelberger, the program manager for Michigan’s Health Insurance Marketplace, which administers the program.
The program is open to people who have insurance but do not qualify for dental coverage, but have a pre-existing condition.
It also offers dental and vision services.
The goal is to help those who need it, said Eicherberger, a dental assistant.
But she said it’s not easy for people to qualify, and it’s also not easy to find a dentist.
“It’s hard to find people who know how to treat it,” she said.
So what’s the plan?
The plan is to pay the cost of a dental visit and get reimbursed for the cost if the dentist sees a patient who is injured or has a serious condition, including cancer or heart disease.
“That’s a big part of the cost,” Eicheberger said.
“It’s about what’s in the budget,” said Maryann Haggerty, the dental assistant in charge of the program for the Detroit area.
“We have to have the money to pay for those services.
It’s not a huge expense.”
Haggerty said there is no cost breakdown for the program so people can compare plans.
The goal is, if they have dental coverage or they are not, to get the care they need.
Haggerterty said she has seen a drop in demand for dentures, which is why she is expanding the program to include vision and dental care.
“You have to be careful about that,” she explained.
“Because they can get a free set of glasses, you have to pay a little bit more, so they are paying more.
But it’s worth it, and we’re trying to help.”
So far, she said, the plan has saved the health care marketplace about $300,000.
The new dental plan is an example of how the government is taking steps to help people who are sicker, and the federal government has stepped in to cover the costs, said Dan Davenport, the deputy administrator for the Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
The government has made some other moves, too.
The U.S. has increased funding to cover people with pre-disposed conditions.
It is also providing financial assistance to families with children with prearranged surgeries, including one for a woman who had a partial hysterectomy after a procedure.
The federal government is also working to make sure that states and insurance companies can help people get free services.
“I think it’s important for us to understand what the barriers are and why people might need to make decisions that are not aligned with the needs of their families,” Davenpoint said.HIGHER EDUCATION”I think people are more willing to try to do this when they have an opportunity to have a better education,” said Dr. Michael Schubert, the director of the Center for Health Security at the University of Michigan.
“There’s not enough data yet to tell us how to measure this.
We know it is a good thing.
It does help people.”
Schubert said more people need to take advantage of dental care and have it delivered right at home, so that the costs are not passed on to the consumer.
But he said there are still challenges.
“What happens when the dentist is a dentist?
The dentist might have a good idea of what you need, but it might be difficult to get that information into the dentist,” he said.
